David Pitre was invited by the American Association for Justice (AAJ) to write about issues involving the proper handling and protection of client trust accounts during the current global financial crisis and its accompanying bank failures. The article, which can be read here, was published in Trial Magazine (AAJ’s flagship nationwide publication for attorneys, law professors, judges, and other members of the legal community). The content of the article was derived from Mr. Pitre’s original live CLE presentation to AAJ Members at its annual 2009 Winter Convention held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Pitre educated lawyers about the current rules and limitations of client trust accounts, particularly in light of recent Congressional legislation and FDIC rule changes designed to counteract the recent upheaval in the financial system.
